Zachry is a great school with great teachers, students, sports, and rules but there are some rules that most students feel are unfair. The ten-ten rule is a rule where the students can’t go to the restroom for the first and last ten minutes of class. This rule is understandable for the first ten minutes so administrators can clear the halls from students wanting to skip class or wandering around the halls. But, for the last ten minutes shouldn’t be ten minutes but five because no student can skip or wander the halls. The student doesn’t miss anything in the last five minutes of class and they have time to pack up for the bell. Another rule that students find unfair is the away for the day rule where students can’t be on there phone from the start to the end of the day. I understand the good of this rule, like no more fights, kids are more social with one another, and how school is a place to learn not be on your phone.
But that is not stopping any student from being on their phones it is causing more students to be sneaky or not care about the rule at all and pull their phone out in front of the adult. This rule also doesn’t prevent students from getting into fights, the first thing that students do is take out their phones to record even if they know it can get taken away. But I think they should at least let students be on their phones and or even Chromebooks during lunch because some students may want to work on work they need to get done after they finish eating but they can’t do that. The school is trying to make students more social but some students don’t like talking to others and or can’t because they have a speech impediment that makes them mute. This is why I think the last ten minutes of the ten-ten rule should be five minutes and why I think students should be allowed to be on their phone for lunch.
